[Range Rules]

CLUB RULES

  1. All members, guests, and visitors must sign in at the clubhouse, list ranges to be used, and pay applicable range fee before using any OSC range facility.

  2. All members shall display their membership card above the waist when on club property. If membership card is not visible, then identification as a member of the club must be supplied when requested by any other member.

  3. All guests must be escorted by a club member.

  4. Obey all Safe Gun Handling Rules. (See posted safe gun handling rules.)

  5. All persons under eighteen (18) years of age shall be escorted by and under direct supervision of an adult at all times.

  6. No alcoholic beverages are permitted on any shooting range at any time. No alcoholic beverage consumption is permitted prior to or during any shooting activity.

  7. All shooting events shall be open to all members and guests.

  8. Exclusive use of any range by any member or member/guests requires rental of said range.

  9. Plinking at cans, balloons, and steel targets is allowed if precautions are taken against ricochets. No glass objects are to be used as targets at any time.

  10. No targets thrown into the air are to be used with single projectiles.

  11. Clean up all trash, targets, plinking targets, shell cases, etc., before leaving club property.

  12. The gate to the rifle range is to be locked when the range is not in use.

  13. All ranges are closed during regular club meetings.

  14. No foul or abusive language.

  15. Range officers may close any range at any time for reasons of safety, new construction, or maintenance.

  16. Club equipment is not to leave club property (except for repair).

  17. The tractor is for grounds maintenance only and can only be used by qualified operators approved by the Executive Committee.

  18. No dumping of any trash on club property.

SAFE GUN HANDLING AND RANGE RULES

  1. All muzzles will be pointed down range at all times.

  2. Under NO circumstance shall anyone handle a firearm when any other person is forward of the firing line on the same range.

  3. All guns are to be unloaded at all times on club property except at shooting stations, while hunting legal PA wild game, or when carried by those legally licensed to do so. Long guns will be cased or carried muzzle up, actions open. Handguns will be cased or holstered.

  1. All shooters are subject to the directions of a range officer when such officer is present.

  2. If there are two or more shooters at a range without a range officer present, one of the shooters shall be designated [with] the responsibility for range commands.

  3. When a scheduled group is using a range, the responsible individual must sign the range log and enter the number of participants.

  1. All competitors and observers in the immediate vicinity of any range must wear eye and ear protection. (Ranges with reactive targets are known to produce ricochets and lead splatter. Eye protection is absolutely mandatory on or near these ranges.)

  2. Anyone demonstrating negligent or destructive behavior may be asked to leave the premises. Members should report all incidents to the Chief Safety Officer.

  3. Anyone found incompetent, as provided by the Bylaws, in gun safety or handling may be banned from the ranges.

  4. All painted targets will be re-painted before leaving [the] range.

  5. All targets, target holders, and other range equipment needing repair shall be reported to a range officer or club officer immediately.

  6. Falling plate targets at the pistol range are limited to standard handgun cartridges only: NO MAGNUMS! Maximum power factor 160,000 gr-ft/sec. (Bullet weight in grains x velocity).

  7. The covered bullseye [pistol] range is limited to handguns and rimfire rifles only. [No magnum rounds and no bottleneck cartridges.]

  8. The bowling pin tables are limited to pistol and shotgun use only. (For ricochet safety, do not use light loads on bowling pins.)

  9. The indoor range is limited to handguns and rimfire rifles only. No magnums, jacketed bullets, or reactive targets are allowed. Only paper targets are to be used and must be placed in the designated target areas.

  10. There shall be no smoking, eating, or drinking on the indoor range.

  11. Pregnant women and children under the age of eight (8) are not permitted on the indoor range.

  12. Shooting on the rifle range is limited to targets in front of designated backstops.

  13. Specific rules apply to the 25 yard indoor range. See posted rules.
