Located on Purdue Mountain between Bellefonte and State College, Pennsylvania, only minutes from Penn State University, the Outdoor Sportsman's Club offers its members 140 acres of shooting sports enjoyment.  There are four outdoor pistol ranges, a 200-yard rifle range, a shotgun sporting clays trailer unit, two 3-D archery courses, and a 10-position, 25-yard indoor range.

The clubhouse features a modern kitchen, handicapped accessible restrooms, and seating for 50.  The new indoor range is located adjacent to the clubhouse meeting room and training facility, connected by a preparation room.

Monthly shooting events and weekly practice sessions are open to the public.  However, OSC is a private club and its facilities are limited to members and their guests.

OSC conducts firearms training and education in personal protection for adults, the Refuse To Be A Victim Program for women, and the Eddie Eagle gun safety program for children.  The facilities are also available to participating law enforcement agencies for training and qualification programs.

The Outdoor Sportsman's Club sponsored Practical Pistol and Action Pistol events for the Pennsylvania Keystone State Games in 2000 through 2004.

Membership in the Outdoor Sportsman's Club is open to all US citizens and registered aliens who are legally entitled to own firearms in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  Individual, family, and junior memberships are available.

Regular meetings are scheduled for the third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m.

OSC is affiliated with USA Shooting, the Civilian Marksmanship Program, and the National Rifle Association.  As a 100% NRA Member club, membership in the NRA is required for OSC membership.

The Outdoor Sportsman's Club began a major building campaign in 1995 to construct a new meeting room and training facility for its members and the educational programs that the club conducts.  The building was completed in 1996.

In 1999, OSC began construction of a new 25-yard, 10-position indoor range.  NRA President Charlton Heston conducted the ground breaking ceremony on September 22, 1999.  With a loan from the National Rifle Association, grants from the NRA Foundation, the support of local business advertisers,  and donations from members and shooting sports enthusiasts, the new range became operational in March 2000.  This new range can accommodate all target handgun and .22 rifle events, including indoor bullseye with turning targets, PPC events, and smallbore rifle matches, as well as be available for future archery events.  Additional firearms training courses conducted during inclement weather may now also be available. heston.jpg 175 x 211

Recently completed range improvement projects include air-driven turning targets at the 25-yard line on the outdoor bullseye range installed Summer 2000, a high-tech security/access system installed in the indoor pistol range in Fall 2000, a new 50-yard target line on the outdoor bullseye range installed Spring 2001, steps to the clubhouse and a massive expansion of the action/training range and plate ranges completed Summer 2001.

Landscaping,  parking lot expansion, and major renovations to the caretaker's house are continuing.
